Today was our last final day at the YWAM base in Cebu and boy was it a big one. We started off with a relaxed morning, sharing the delight of Vegemite (the RIGHT way) with our German friend Mona, devotions and a bit of rest and recovering from a big night last night at the graduation! Arrival of clean laundry also made for many happy team members.
Ate Lucille also made the most delicious banana cake in the world and absolutely made my day. Salamat ate Lucille!
Then after a lovely lunch and a small break we began the journey to the SM (super mall) where we all finalised our Kris Kringle presents for tonight, and did some souvenir shopping, enjoying the novelty of stores unavailable in Australia.
After sufficiently emptying our wallets, we rushed to catch the bus back to the base and missed our stop on the way back, requiring the hire of two trikes to get back on time for the base Christmas party.
Then after a flurry of wrapping paper, make-up and gifts worth 300 pesos, we fled downstairs dressed in our best green and red Christmas garb to celebrate with YWAM the Christmas season. A crazy match of snatchy santa and a good feed of boboy created a warm Christmas vibe. We were also surprised by a lovely video composed by the YWAM staff of our time at the base and encouragements from their team.
A day full of fun, food and celebration was a lovely way to wrap up our last night before we begin our debrief period and transition back to life in Aus.
It's hard to say goodbye, but we are also all very excited to come home and see our families and friends.
Thanks for taking the time to read our blog, it's lovely to know we have so much support from the people at home. Hope you are all having a great day!
PS. Shout out to the Ormrod fam, love you all and missing ya's
