Hey fam! Today was amazing...we had a full day of work planned out, laying bricks for the final house in the Village Of Hope. What could have been a strenuous and difficult day was a day of laughs, team bonding, mud rissoles, brick plopping, and discovering muscles we never thought we had.
After a break for a delicious lunch made by Suubi's cook Juliette, we returned to our worksite and continued our bricklaying apprenticeships taught graciously by the local builders.
We were thrilled when the kids living at the Village came home from school,
as we could finally spend time with them kicking the footy and learning some key Ugandan phrases. We were smothered in love and friendly greetings while our hair was turned into tight braids and our phone camera rolls were filled with selfies.
It was astounding to see how full of joy they were despite how little they have and we were inspired to reflect on our own responses to life back at home. Even though we came home caked in mud and dirt (and some of us forgot to shower) we were still filled with an uplifted spirit and a grateful heart while we prepared to do it all again tomorrow.
