It's Friday! Our last day of building on the kitchen. Today we spent 90% of our day carrying dirt to help finish off the foundation of what will at the end be a kitchen. The kitchen is a much needed necessity for the children's home here. Our hands are decorated with blisters and raw from carrying basket after basket of dirt to fill up the inside of the foundation.
At lunch time we received a home made Cambodian lunch which consisted of fried noodles, it was delicious. Once our work was done for the day we were rewarded with an interesting warm banana dessert. It tasted sweet and was good, although very different.
Before we left the building site for the last time. We had a big group photo to commemorate our time there as well as creating a plaque with all our names on it. We prayed for Suy Sen blessing him and the future of the Childrens' home. We also pray that it will bless many children and that the rest of the kitchen will be built successfully.
That evening we had dinner at the Love Cafe and were once again treated with exceptional food. Samuel our tour guide also joined us for dinner. He told us of his journey through life, about his family and his current job and mission. His story was very moving and had quite an impact on us. Samuel also taught us about the situation and lifestyle of most Cambodian children, especially those without parents. This was heartbreaking.
Samuel has a mission to help these kids and do whatever he can to improve their quality of life. He asks for our prayers and support.
Overall another great day in Cambodia with great people.
