Today we got packed our suitcases and cleaned our rooms, ready to move to our new location! After a few final goodbyes at YWAM we drove for just over an hour to the other side of the city of Cebu. We were welcomed at the Church of God, and by Pastor Earl, our host.
A quick look at our accommodation made us realise we were up for less comfort compared to YWAM. With only a few small rooms, we piled in together with small mattresses on the ground. Especially the girls room resembled a big ‘slumber party’ with matresses squeezed up together and bags lined up outside in the hallway. Nevertheless, the team did amazing; they stayed positive and made the situation work! As leaders we are very proud!
After settling in in the afternoon, we joined a worship service in the evening. We were introduced to the church, but after that things became a little harder to follow as our translator struggled to keep up with the Filipinos speaking up front!
As we were getting ready for bed (our rooms are on the 4th floor with an amazing view) it started pouring down with rain, and we got to see some spectacular lightning light up the sky. Not long after fireworks were being lit at a nearby festival, which we could enjoy too! We commented that you wouldn’t likely see the combination of lightning and fireworks back in Australia!
