Day 7 - A Lit Day

Today we started off our morning with what we originally thought would be a feeding program, but ended up being a simple but sweet visit to some children in a local village. Although the change in plans was unexpected, we still had an awesome time! We sung some songs with the children - a highlight for me (and I think for the whole team also) was singing the children's song 'Father Abraham', which was honestly just TOO GOOD. Of course, stickers, bubbles and frisbees were a hit with the children and we also managed to play a game of Duck, Duck, Goose!

Before heading back to the hotel for a little break, we went to the markets to buy team uniforms for our upcoming soccer match against some locals later on in the day. We spent a bit of time deciding on which team we'd be but finally came to agreement on Barcelona FC! Having bought these uniforms, we were reared and ready for our soccer game.

In the late afternoon, after having a short rest at the hotel, we headed off to a youth church service and attempted to join in as much as we could, considering that it was mainly held in Khmer. We sang a couple songs with a little dance accompanying one of them (lit) and performed a short skit also.

We ended our day with a bang: soccer! After having a quick dinner, it was Australia vs. Cambodia - we played mostly against the locals at the church service we had just attended and it was super fun despite the humidity, the bugs and of course, the sweat. Despite our extra lit uniforms and our team spirit, we didn't get to find out what victory tastes like and we lost 14-7 (I think). But you know what? It's called yolo - maybe we'll win next time.
